We added
some Pardine Genets to our collection quite some weeks ago. We have six of these, 3 males and 3 females.
The pevious
owner kept them all together as a group and no problems had occured whatsoever keeping them like this. They all
lived harmoniously together. It did appear that one pair had bonded though so after discussion with previous owner we decided
to split this pair away from the main group and keep as 1 sexed pair and a group of four for the time being. In the near future
I believe the other four Genets will pair up and it will probably be best to keep these as pairs. It is stated in the
wild that Genets are soiltary animals but I know of a number keepers who keep them as pairs with absolutely no problems. We
will monitor the situation to see how it goes.
Pardine Genets
are from Africa namely Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Niger, Senagal as well as a few other countries.
