Our Babies

As previously mentioned it is said that the hedgehogs can travel many miles a night in search of food. In our care we provide them with a large 12in diameter plastic exercise wheel. Every single one of our hedgehogs runs on the wheel. Make sure you purchase the solid wheels and not the mesh type. These can damage the hedgehogs feet and legs if they become trapped.
We also get the hedgehogs out daily. They are allowed the run of the room and the children like to give them a cuddle.

As mentioned we get the Hedgehogs out daily. As wet get them out we inspect them for any problems, cuts, sores etc. We also like to handle them for a while. This helps to keep them sociable. Our hedgehogs like to climb over and around us ard 9 times out of 10 end up being snuggled around the neck

When picking a hedge hog out of its enclosure it is to be expected that the hedgehog will curl up slightly and also hiss and snort a little. Even the tamest of hedgehogs will do this especially if you have disturbed them. They will very quickly settle.
All hedgehogs, even the most sociable will sometimes give a nip. So please expect the odd occasional nip and realise it is not neccessarily aggression. it may be that you have the smell of food on your hands, it may be you startled them.
